BIG IDEA
Understand the idea before memorising a rule.
Angles and constructions is part of measurement. At Grade 7, the goal is to connect this topic to a clear method, relevant evidence and a final check. You will apply that idea to a real measurement question at this grade level.
YOU WILL LEARN TO
- Explain the key ideas in angles and constructions using accurate mathematics vocabulary.
- Apply a reliable method to a new angles and constructions task.
- Check the result and explain why the evidence supports it.
METHOD
A reliable three-step approach
- 1
Identify the information and the unknown.
- 2
Choose a rule or operation and show every step.
- 3
Check the result with estimation, substitution or units.
WORKED EXAMPLE
During independent practice for Grade 7, convert 8 m to centimetres.
Model response
The correct answer is 800 cm. 1 m = 100 cm, so 8 × 100 = 800 cm.
